A Cookeville man landed behind bars Sunday for allegedly attempting to cut another man with a box cutter.
Cookeville Police arrested 20-year-old Luis Jimenez Perez for one count of aggravated assault.
Officers came in contact with Perez after responding to a disturbance at an E. 16th Apartment complex. An investigation determined that a physical altercation had occurred between the defendant and another male.
A police report said Perez placed the victim in a choke hold and attempted to cut his abdomen with a box cutter.
Officers arrested Perez and transported him to the Putnam County Jail. Perez left the jail after posting his $5,000 bond.
