PCSS Summer Learning Camp Registration Ending Soon

Registration will be open for one more week for Putnam County students to participate in summer learning camps.

K-4 Instructional Supervisor Diana Wood said the opportunity is open to all students entering grades 1-7.

“We definitely see some skill gaps in reading and math,” Wood said. “The great thing about this program is it is just an extension of the school year. We’ll have the data that tells what exactly your child is missing, and we’ll be able to address those skill gaps.”

Registration ends on May 1st. The camps will run from June 6th to June 30th, Monday-Thursday. Wood said meals will be provided as well as transportation.

“We’ll have periods throughout the day to have reading, math and physical activity,” Wood said. “We’ll have a time of intervention where every student receives exactly what they need for their academic level. We also have S.T.R.E.A.M which is kinda like S.T.E.M.”

Wood said last year was the inaugural year of the state funded learning camps. Wood said the program was a success in filling gaps as well as preventing a summer slide in learning.

Wood said students most in need of the instruction have already received word from the system.
