Overton School Board Awards Bid For LA Football Stadium

The Overton County School Board awarded the bid Tuesday night for the remaining work on the Livingston Academy football stadium.

Chair Mike Hayes said that Mid-State Construction submitted the low bid at some $4.2 million. He said that the group will be responsible for the demolition of the current bleachers, the installation of the scoreboard, the building of the concessions stand, and the asphalt work.

“Part of the bid we put out, phase one,” Hayes said. “We told them that the lighting, the bleachers, the scoreboard, had to be up by July 31st. I think our first game is August 21st,  it’s an away game, so I think our first home game is August 28th. So our kids will be able to play on it.”

Hayes said that with this bid to finish the work, the total project cost came to an estimated $5.8 million. He said that the last discussion among the board had an estimate between $5.7 million and $5.9 million.

Hayes said that a notice to proceed on the project will go out Wednesday. He said that from that point Mid-State Construction estimates 300 days to finish the project entirely.

“We just want everybody to understand that with the concessions stand there may be some touch-up work that needs to be done,” Hayes said. “But everything should be completed by mid-November and good to go.”
