Overton Health And Rehab Opening Expanded Visitations

Overton County Health and Rehab is reopening visitations due to the county’s COVID positivity rate.

The Overton County Health Department reported a 3.4 percent positivity rate this week.  Public Relations Director Scott Stevens said offering visitations are important to keeping those in the facility connected with friends and family.

“If you would like to visit us on a nice warm day, sunshine and be outside, we’ve got outdoor options with visitation areas set up,” Stevens said. “But when it’s colder or rainy we’ve got private rooms that are right at the entrance. So we’ll bring your family up to that area and you’ll have a private room where you’ll be able to visit for up to 30 minutes.”

Stevens said the facility is putting a greater emphasis on accepting new residents and patients with county COVID numbers improving. He said they cannot accept new people unless they can show they’ve tested negative.

“It seems that more people are getting tested and are negative and are also getting the vaccine,” Stevens said. “So that’s one of our requirements is that you have a negative COVID test so that we can admit you here.”

Stevens said that visitations are appointment only. He said the best way to arrange a visit is to call the facility and set a time.
