Overton Health And Rehab Increasing Staff For More Residents

Overton County Health and Rehab is looking to add to its staff in anticipation for an increased amount of residents.

Public Relations Director Scott Stevens said vacant spots at the current facility and upcoming short term rehab center need to be filled, but staffing must come first.

“We’re kinda in a rebuilding with our census, our patient load, and with that, we need to rebuild additional staffing to be prepared for that,” Stevens said. “So, we have a lot of room for residents to move in with us, but we want to make sure that we’re adequately staffed for that increased number.”

Stevens said in-person Certified Nursing Assistant classes begin January 25th to recruit workers. Stevens said if accepted, participants will be hired full-time and paid for the time earning the certification. Stevens said the facility is also offering a $2,000 signing bonus and a new pay rate.

“We are going to have the first in-person CNA class,” Stevens said. “I don’t even know if we had one last year. I am going to say this may be the only in-person CNA class available in the Upper Cumberland.”

Stevens said employees will begin in the main center at first with some moving to the new short term rehab facility opening in March. Stevens said you can apply at the Overton County Health and Rehab location or by calling.

Overton Health and Rehab has gone one month without a positive COVID case, Stevens said. The short term rehab center contains 20 rooms, making a 14,000 square foot facility.
