Overton Appoints Dale As New Commissioner

The Overton County Commission appointed Nathan Dale Monday night to serve as District One Commissioner.

Dale, one of three candidates nominated, receiving eight of the fourteen votes from commissioners. Dale said his goal is to bring unity to the commissioners and work to find solutions that are best for everybody.

“I’m excited to learn about county government and see how, the ins and outs of everything that happens within the county government,” Dale said. “And figure out ways to spend our money wisely that reaches out to everybody and provides, allows the taxpayers to get the best bang for their buck.”

Dale said former Commissioner Lee Richards contacted him and asked if he would be willing to run for the position opened by Richards’ retirement. Dale said it was a no-brainer decision to pursue the role.

“I just want to thank the commissioners for having the faith in me to run and for appointing me,” Dale said. “It means a lot that they would have that faith in me and I’m happy to be here and looking forward to working alongside them.”

Dale said he is excited to step into the seat and start working with the commission. Dale said he met Richards while going door-to-door as part of his campaign for Livingston Mayor last year.

“We sat down and talked for about an hour,” Dale said. “Just got to know him a little bit there and he got to know me and liked what I said. And I hope to be be able to continue on with doing what’s right and doing what’s best for everybody.”

In other business, the county approved a bid to replace two sections of the Overton County Jail’s roof for $67,600.
