One person has died as the result of a three-vehicle collision on I-40 Wednesday afternoon.
According to preliminary reports from Tennessee Highway Patrol, 53-year-old Brenda Avery of Owensboro, Kentucky died after her vehicle was struck head-on by 74-year-old Dwight
Bolf of Miracle, Kentucky. Bolf was traveling eastbound in a 1996 Chevy HM near mile-marker 298 when he struck the cable barrier and went across the median into oncoming traffic. He struck the 2020 Chrysler LL of Avery and the 2017 Ford F-150 of 39-year-old Joshua Lening of Columbus, North Carolina.
Bolf, Lening, and Avery’s passengers, 30-year-old Whitney Winstead and a 3-year-old juvenile of Newbern, Tennessee, were injured.
The accident happened around 2:00 p.m.
