One person died and five others were injured during a multi-car crash in White County Wednesday.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports 34-year-old Gina N. Stewart, of Sparta, died at the scene of the crash after her vehicle was hit head-on along Smithville Highway.
The collision also injured four juveniles, two of which were in Stewart’s 2009 Chevy HHR.
Details indicate 24-year-old Timothy Davidson, of Crossville, was traveling west when his 2014 Honda crossed the center line and struck Stewart’s vehicle.
The report states a third vehicle driven by 51-year-old Craig Hale, of Smithville, was traveling behind Stewart’s car when the accident occurred. Hale’s 2007 Toyota Tacoma struck the front of Stewart’s car after the initial collision occurred.
Stewart’s car came to a rest on a guardrail along the eastbound lane. Davidson’s vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway while Hale came to a stop along the right shoulder further down the road.
Davidson and two juveniles in Hale’s vehicle suffered injuries during the crash while Hale was uninjured.
The report states that testing was required to determine if drugs played a factor in the crash.
All individuals were wearing seat belts when the accident occurred. The THP states safety restraints would not have made a difference.
The report indicates criminal charges are currently pending.
