Several downed trees and poor road conditions reported Sunday night across the Upper Cumberland as northern counties experienced heavy snowfall.
Fentress County saw over eight inches in Clarkrange and five inches in Allardt. Fentress County is receiving reports of downed trees and power outages in Jamestown.
Pickett County Sheriff’s Office reporting some five inches of snowfall, as well. The wet snow has caused sagging tree limbs possibly causing sone power outages. Sheriff Dana Dowdy said with anticipated outages, deputies will provide transportation to shelter for warmth. Dowdy said to call (931) 864-3210 for assistance.
Dowdy said state and county are hazardous as state and county road crews continue scrapping. 4-5 minor accidents have occurred due to slick roads, according to Dowdy.
Volunteer Energy reported 1,391 power outages in Cumberland County as of 8pm Sunday.
Several downed trees were also reported in Clay County. Limbs have been cleared on McCormick Ridge Road and Bakerton Road, according to Clay County EMA.
As of 7:30 p.m. Sunday, no wrecks have been reported. EMA Director Kyle Haney said road conditions are “extremely hazardous,” and are expected to deteriorate through the night as temperatures drop.
Putnam County Sheriff’s Office expect side road conditions will continue to worsen over the next few hours. Main roads are slushy with slick spots expected in the morning.
Jackson County 911 is reporting deteriorating road conditions. As of 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Highway 85 and the main hill entering town are becoming hazardous. Overton County is also reporting increasingly dangerous road conditions.
Across the board, advice from emergency personnel is to stay home and indoors unless it is an absolute necessity to be out on the roads right now.
