Burglars pried open the front doors of Algood Drugs to steal money and drugs during an overnight burglary Tuesday.
Algood Police are investigating the robbery. Algood Police Public Information Officer Elena Neff said they do not have a suspect.
“As to the extent of the inventory that was taken,” Neff said, “We don’t have a firm number. Algood Drugs is working on getting us their inventory.”
In addition to the drugs and money taken, Neff said property damage to the drug store was extensive.
“As a rough estimate, as far as property damage is concerned, we are looking at three to four thousand dollars worth of property damage,” Neff said. “Now that may go up or that may go down, we’re not completely sure.”
Police have been looking for surveillance video of the area. Neff said Algood Drugs does have a surveillance system.
“Their system was interrupted at some point,” Neff said, “So we’re still working with them to try to piece together their surveillance.”
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the DEA are assisting with the investigation. Anyone with information should contact Detective Tim Terry at (931) 537-6830 extension 1200.
