Putnam County authorities have arrested a Cookeville man for violating the sex offender registry.
Arrest warrants accuse Billy Joe Nix of failing to report for quarterly registration and not disclosing required information to authorities. The report also accuses Nix of absconding from supervision by not reporting to his probation officer and failing to attend sex offender classes.
The 45-year-old became a member of the sex offender registry following his 2010 conviction for attempted rape.
Officers with the Tennessee Department of Corrections arrested Nix at the Jackson County line on Monday. He remains behind bars at the Putnam County Jail on $3,500.
