A spokesperson for NHC Healthcare said that extra precautions are being taken to prevent the continued spread of COVID-19 in the Cookeville facility.
In a statement, NHC said that company was notified of asymptomatic COVID positive staff and patients during the weekly testing process. NHC Cookeville reported 11 positive cases Sunday. Currently there are 3 patient cases under investigation.
The NHC spokesperson said the facility is following all CDC and CMS guidelines for active patients, and all staff members are wearing full personal protective equipment. In addition, staff members undergo a health screening before beginning their shift.
Families are updated each week by phone calls, virtual visits, and weekly email updates, according to the spokesperson.
In addition to the COVID cluster in the Cookeville facility, NHC McMinnville has 45 positive cases with 22 recoveries. Seven staff members remain under investigation.
