New Cookeville Restaurant Fire And Vine Will Have Something For Everyone

New Cookeville restaurant Fire and Vine hoping to host a soft opening sometime this summer.

Co-Owner and Chef Chad Combs said that he wanted to bring an experience to the community that Cookeville didn’t already have. He said Fire and Vine will serve as a restaurant and rooftop bar.

“Because the wine is slowly making way back, the different varietals, it’s becoming trendy and there’s not a lot of that here,” Combs said.”Pretty much every restaurant has wine, but not many will delve into the ‘Let’s find the really neat stuff.'”

Combs said his first job in the restaurant business was at Cookeville’s Papa G’s when he was 15, inspiring a long-time dream to open a pizzeria. Combs said the vision has now grown to include more than just pizza. He said the restaurant on West First Street will also have steak, seafood, and more.

Combs also owns the Putnam Room. He said with Cookeville growing and bringing a variety of people, it is a goal to bring different foods and restaurant experiences to the area. Combs said he does not want people to have to go to Nashville or Knoxville to find cool places to try new things to eat.

“When you go look for a new job, you look at schools you look at restaurants you look at those kinds of things that affect your everyday life, and not everybody is looking for something like what we’re doing, but some people do,” Combs said. “And I think it needs to be part of the mix in order to help the community grow. Help us be a happy Cookeville without a million people running around. We can have the things that larger cities or metropolitan areas have, if we can make it work.”

Combs said he believes Fire and Vine will have a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy.
