Residents have a chance to get rid of used or unwanted medications during Saturday’s National Drug Take Back event.
Bill Gibson is the Executive Director of the Power of Putnam Anti-Drug Coalition. He said residents can drop-off medications at several Putnam County businesses.
“We’ve got a lot of sites,” Gibson said. “There’s Andy’s Pharmacy, Infinity Drugs, Monterey Drugs, Nunalley’s Drug Store in Baxter, Algood Police Department, and both Walgreens in Cookeville.”
Gibson said residents have other opportunities to dispose of their unwanted medications if they can’t take advantage of Saturday’s event.
“There’s always 24-7 drop-off locations at Algood Police Department, Cookeville Police Department, Monterey Police Department, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Tech Police Department, and Walgreens on Willow,” Gibson said. “There’s lots of places, so you can clean out that drawer and get rid of those unused medications so they don’t become subject to somebody taking them in the wrong way.”
Communities all across the Upper Cumberland will hosting National Drug Take Back Day events.
