NAPA Aims For Car Wash Record Saturday

NAPA Auto Parts will look to break a world record Saturday by washing cars at 190 locations nationwide.

Baxter NAPA owner Steve Phillips said the event will be part of the store’s grand-opening celebration.

“This is a lot of fun. It’s a chance for Baxter to participate in a Guinness Book of World Records event and I don’t think it’s a very common thing to occur,” Phillips said. “We think it’s a great way to start off the store. It lets people know we’re a fun store that does crazy things.”

Phillips said NAPA corporate got the idea after hearing Australian auto parts company Repco set the record at 6,277 cars within eight hours.

“NAPA Auto Parts of North America acquired that Australian company, but the Australians got the idea ‘you know down here, we’re record-setters, and you guys aren’t,'” Phillips said. “The guys in North America said ‘we’re going to take you on.'”

Phillips said the store will need to wash at least 50 vehicles in order for their total to count towards the record. All proceeds from the event will go towards Girl Scout Troop 313 in Baxter.

The car wash will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 145 Fast Lane off Highway 56 and I-40.
