Municipal Code Regarding Dogs Taken Up at Special City Council Meeting

The Crossville City Council passed the second reading of an ordinance amendment regarding humane restraint and shelter for dogs

Crossville City Council passed the second reading of an ordinance regarding dog tethering.

City Manager Greg Wood said one substantive change to the ordinance calls for a permanently-fixed tethering anchor.

“The only thing that really changed at all is instead of the spiral tie- up- stake, we put in for a permanently-fixed anchor which allows 360 degrees of movement,” Wood said. “Because I was talking today to a guy that has a malamute and he said, ‘I’ve even had weiner dogs pull that thing out of the ground.’ So I think that is a reasonable accommodation. ”

The council must approve a third-reading before enacting the ordinance.
