More Work Planned for Algood Farmer’s Market

Algood City Administrator Keith Morrison said things are up and running and details are being finalized on the farmer’s market.

Morrison said it’s being used heavily everyday despite multiple parts of the market needing to be finished. Morrison said the bathrooms, electrical and lighting still need to be finished but it isn’t slowing down the market’s usage.

“I think it’s gonna be a major piece, it’s getting a lot of traffic, I think a lot of people are interested, I think it’s very important for people to get the access to the produce and things that are sold there,” Morrison said. “I think it’s just an essential piece of our community and so having it thriving is a great goal and we’ve been working on it for a while.”

Morrison said the city is trying to wrap things on the market. However, with the Winter approaching Morrison said he’s unsure if everything will get finished.

“I’m not sure we’re gonna make paving the parking lot before the weather turns off on us, but we’re gonna see where we get to,” Morrison said.

There are other improvements being planned, such as closing off the rafters in the pavilion to keep birds out. Morrison said there is also trim out work to be done on the roof and gutter line.
