Monterey’s Landers Trade Moving To Old Fred’s Building

Landers Trade of Monterey will be moving to a new location in town later this year.

Owner Chris Landers said the hardware store located on Holly Street is moving to the old Fred’s building on Stratton Avenue.

“We’ll end up being just over three times the size and give us a good opportunity to expand and be that one stop shop there in Monterey,” Landers said. “A lot of excitement among our family and our employees.”

Landers said the plan is to start moving in October and open for business at the new location on November 1st. Landers said with the additional space, customers can expect expanded options of sporting goods and apparel, lumber and tools.

“Business is good,” Landers said. “Expanding and outgrowing the space that we have. A year prior, I ended up with the Fred’s building and didn’t know what exactly I was going to end up doing with it.”

Landers said the shop has been in its current building for some 25 years. Landers purchased the business in late 2020 and wants to continue the hometown feel of the store.

“Everybody knows that comes into the store, Roger,” Landers said. “He’s been there for many many years and in the hardware business for a longtime. He is still with us and carrying on with us. The hometown store setting will continue to be.”

Landers said hours have also extended for the hardware store. The store is set to stay open until 7:00 p.m.
