Monterey will host a series of volunteer clean-ups throughout the community.
Cultural Administrator Rafferty Cleary said that they’ll be focusing on highly-frequented areas throughout the community, such as Bee Rock, the Depot, and other public spaces.
“Having litter-free areas just makes a difference,” “To visitors and to even business prospects that might be coming into Monterey. When they see clean roadways and public spaces, that lets those people know that the town cares about quality of life and our appearance to outsiders.”
Cleary said the clean-ups will also serve as a way to get people involved in helping their communities. He said that all are welcome to join, especially high school students, clubs, or any community member who might need service hours.
Cleary said that the first of these series will take place at Bee Rock on March 26th. He said gloves, trash bags, and trash grabbers will be provided.
“One thing we’re asking folks to have is to make sure to have a bottle of water or two, you can bring a backpack, and appropriate shows” “Specifically Bee Rock, one of the things we’ll be doing is actually going to hte base of Bee Rock, the bottom of the cliff. For whatever reason, folks find it entertaining to throw all kinds of things from the top to the bottom. To get down there, it can be really treacherous, so you don’t want to show up in flip-flops or sandals or anything like that.”
