The Monterey Building and Grounds Committee will need more time to determine whether 9.5 acres in its industrial park can be sold.
The committee met Thursday night to hear from an interested buyer with plans to build affordable housing. However, Mayor JJ Reels said it is possible the land can only be sold for industrial use or even not sold at all.
Reels said he will need to look at the original deeds of when the land was given to the town. He said this will help determine what, if any restrictions there are on selling land from the industrial park.
There will be another meeting scheduled to discuss the industrial park land sale. Reels said a date is yet to be set for this meeting.
