Monterey officials have issued a Water Boil Advisory for parts of the Monterey community Wednesday due to a broken water line.
The advisory includes customers from Evergreen Lane to the Monterey Water Plant on Highway 164. The advisory does not include the entire town, but rather areas around Appletree Lane, Ben Looper, Phillips Drive, Lake Hill Road, Lakeside Drive, and Rocky Lane.
Customers of East Fork Utility District in these same areas only are also impacted. Again, only East Fork customers in and around this same area are under the advisory.
The advisory means you should boil your water for 60 seconds and then let it cool before using for any type of human consumption, including eating, drinking, or brushing teeth.
The advisory is in effect until further notice.
A 12-inch water line broke during the early morning hours. Crews are making repairs, but it could take several hours. The repairs could be impacted by Wednesday’s weather.
Once repairs are complete, water will be tested to ensure no pathogens are present.
