The Monterey Farmer’s Market will celebrate this year’s grand opening this Saturday.
Monterey Cultural Administrator Rafferty Cleary said the market first opened in April, but in a different way due to the coronavirus. This is the first time since then where the people of Monterey can come together and enjoy the market.
“It’s just an opportunity as things are reopening in our communities,” Clearly said. “To have this in Monterey will be really the first official outdoor event. I think it is a great way to come together. There’s been a lot of work and support behind this.”
Clearly said visitors this Saturday can find early season produce, baked goods and homemade wood crafts. Belmont student Sarah Morey will also be present with a musical performance from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
“I don’t want to give the idea that social distancing and CDC guidelines won’t be taken seriously,” Clearly said. “They will be followed.
The Monterey Farmer’s Market will open at 8:00 am and close at 2:00 p.m. If you are a vendor who wants to sale their goods, call Rafferty Cleary or stop by the train depot to fill out your vendor application.
