Minor injuries occurred when seven vehicles crashed on Interstate 40 in Putnam County Saturday.
The chain reaction accident happened at the 295 westbound mile marker when traffic began to slow for a nearby crash.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said one vehicle managed to come to a controlled stop, but was rear ended by another vehicle. Officials said that collision caused several more rear end crashes to occur.
Three people suffered minor injuries and received treatment at area hospitals.
The THP plans to release a completed crash report later today.
