McMinnville Milner Rec Center Offering Puppet Time Mommy And Me Class

McMinnville Parks and Rec bringing a Puppet Time for Tots Mommy and Me class to its programming.

Recreation Program Director Michael Benusches said this is the first time in many years they’ll have a class of this nature for parents and kids aged two to four.

“They’ll get to watch a puppet time show and then they’ll get to make their own puppet with the guidance of the teacher and their parent,” Benusches said. “And then after the craft time, they’ll get to play with toys and the parents will get to have some nice social time with tea and snacks.”

Benusches said that the program is unique because it’s not necessarily a program for athletics, but for kids to explore their creativity.

“And I know being ages two to four, they’re not too creative right now but it could help mold them into future artists, or puppeteers or crafters,” Benusches said. “So like I said we’re just really excited about offering this class.”

In addition to helping kids socialize, it will allow parents to meet new people and socialize as well.

“Sometimes if you’re a stay-at-home mom, you’re at home pretty much all the time and it’s just you and your kids,” Benusches said. “Well with this class you get to bring the kids out of the house, and you get to meet other moms, and make friends, and hopefully long-time friends through this class.”

Benusches said that class space is limited to eight kids a session, at $60 per parent and child. He said that parents can sign their kids up at the Milner Recreation Center. Sessions will be on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and run until May 10th.
