McMinnville Approves New Budget Without Tax Increase

McMinnville’s new fiscal year budget does not include a property tax increase.

The board approved the new spending plan after cutting nearly 900-thousand dollars from the original proposal.

Board members voted to freeze all step raises for city employees, but rejected an amendment that would have removed cost of living adjustment raises. Officials said they would consider possible merit-based raises at a later time.

The board also voted against an amendment that would have removed a $75,000 appropriation to the Tourism Development Board.

Aldermen approved the 2019-2020 budget during Tuesday night’s regular scheduled meeting.
