Man Accused Of Impersonating TWRA Officer

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has issued a warning about a man posing as an officer in Trousdale County.

The incident happened Tuesday night at Second Creek boat ramp off of Oldham Road.

A fisherman said he was approached by a man who identified himself as a Tennessee Wildlife Officer. The man asked to see his fishing license. When the fisherman did not present his license the man confiscated his fishing pole and kayak. Afterward, the man walked back to his truck and appeared to be talking on a radio.

The Trousdale County Sheriff’s Office described the man as white, 6 foot, slim, dark hair, wearing brown pants and a brown shirt with a gun on his hip. He was driving a newer model, green, Chevrolet truck with brush guard on the front.

The fisherman stated he did not question the man’s authority, as he looked like a Wildlife Officer. Later, he realized the man was impersonating an officer, as he did not get a ticket and the truck did not have markings on it.

According to the agency, they’ve had similar reports of another impersonator in other areas of the state. It’s important to note that typically, the TWRA does not confiscate kayaks and fishing rods at the scene. Usually, if there is some violation, they issue a citation.
