The longest-tenured White County Commissioner in history will be laid to rest Friday in Highland Cemetery.
Nell Floyd Marchbanks will be buried Friday afternoon following services at Hunter Funeral Home. She passed away Monday at the age of 101.
Marchbanks became the first woman sworn-in as a White County Commissioner, where she served for some 30 years. She worked for some 30 years as circulation manager for the Sparta News Pictorial and later, the Sparta Expositor.
She was born in May, 1918.
