A number of Cookeville businesses increased their sales this holiday season.
From boutiques to motorsports, local store owners have done well with profits despite the larger corporations at Eagle Pointe.
Cigi’s Boutique owner Cigi England said this is thanks to the tight knit mindset that only local communities can provide.
“This community really supports the local stores because in return we support our community,” England said. “We give back a lot and in return our community shops with us because they know that. They know that these local stores are feeding into the community, into the local schools, the local charities and organizations and churches, and in return they shop with us because of that.”
England added the advantage local shops have over big box stores is the strong communication shops have with each other.
“I can only speak for the local boutiques, I know that we have teamed up several times in the past. We have helped each other promote each other’s boutiques by kinda bouncing off one another and doing joint open houses and joint events. I know that we definitely team up and work together and support each other,” England said.
Mid State Motor Sports owner Amanda Hudson said they have seen an increase in their profits. Hudson said they shifted their products to used ATV’s, motorcycles, and go-karts which improved sales over the Christmas season as opposed to last year.
