The Livingston City Codes Administrator will continue serving the city until July.
Mayor Curtis Hayes said despite previous actions, Darius Sims does not intend to leave the position before Livingston finds a replacement.
“I just want to make it real clear, Darius Sims has done us a great job for the City of Livingston. He is currently still in that role,” Hayes said. “We will be taking resumes and applications within the next thirty days. And hopefully, have somebody ready for the board to hire in the first of June.”
Hayes said the Board of Aldermen and Mayor wishes to complete the job search in the next month.
“In the next thirty days, we plan on hiring somebody as a codes enforcer, so that they can work along with Mr. Sims for thirty days,” Hayes said. “So we are going to hire them the first of June, Mr. Sims retires on the last day of June. So that’s the game plan.”
Sims announced his retirement in April before the Property Maintenance Committee meeting.
