Livingston Courthouse Grounds Makeover

The grounds of the Livingston Courthouse will receive a much needed makeover thanks to a T-DOT grant.

Livingston Downtown Revitalization Chairman Ray Evans said the town is trying to make the courthouse the center attraction.

“Our existing courthouse grounds are simply tired,” Evans said. “We have some stamped, brick paved areas that are become dilapidated and cracked and such. We have some drainage issues with storm drainage leaking into the courthouse.”

Evans said the landscaping and sidewalks will both be upgraded. Evans said a plan was created to beautify the area 14 years ago, and will be used as the basis of the plan.

“We have done so many renovations and improvements in the downtown area in Livingston,” Evans said. “Between the city and various grants, we now invested getting close to two and a half million dollars. The courthouse is kind of the gem of the whole area.”

TDOT’s Transportation Alternatives Program Grant will provide Livingston $450,000 with a match split between the county and town. Evans said the town is in the process of selecting an engineer consultant to create the construction documents.
