Livingston is in the process of negotiating fees with a design consultant for courthouse plaza renovations.
Livingston Downtown Revitalization Chairman Ray Evans said he does not know if negotiations will be successful, but expects construction to begin in the Fall of 2021. Evans said once a design is selected for the nearly $670,000 project, it will renewed and noteworthy.
“It’s a very extensive renovation and restoration of the courthouse grounds,” Evans said. “I suspect that when it’s finished… We’ll have one of the finest rural courthouse plazas in the state.”
Livingston received a $450,000 grant through TDOT’s Transportation Alternatives Program, with a split between Overton and Livingston. Evans said this project will renovate everything in the plaza from the face of the courthouse to the curb line, including sidewalks.
“The board of mayor and alderman have to approve the agreement, but TDOT has to approve it as well,” Evans said. “Then we’ll start the initial phase of the design process and then move forward from there.”
Previously, Livingston met in November with two design consultants, reviewing their prior projects.
