“It’s a home run for Livingston.”
That’s the response Mayor Curtis Hayes gave after confirming the city is now a Main Street Downtown Community.
“I think this is just a great opportunity for our Livingston downtown merchants to grow, and a good tool to keep for us for business retention and business expansion.”
Hayes said now that Livingston is an accredited Main Street, the door is open for more grant opportunities to enhance downtown business. He said businesses are looking forward to expanding their entrepreneurship.
Chamber of Commerce Tourism Director Shannon Cantrell helped put together the 130 page application to the state in June. Hayes said the designation was made possible through the chamber’s hard work.
“We look forward to working with each merchant to make sure they have a great positive Main Street experience,” Hayes said. “We just think we’ve hit a home run in joining Main Street.”
Livingston joins 57 other accredited Tennessee Main Street Downtown communities. Other downtowns include Crossville, Jamestown, and Gainesboro.
