The Livingston Board of Aldermen and Mayor appointed Ken Dodson as the new Vice-Mayor Monday.
Mayor Curtis Hayes said Dodson will take the place of former Vice-Mayor Bill Winningham.
“My old buddy, vice-mayor Bill Winningham, a dear friend of mine, I miss him dearly,” Hayes said. “This was someone that, he and Chris Speck is who he put his name behind.”
Hayes said he believes Dodson will make a great Vice-Mayor.
“I’m happy for Ken. Ken is a great guy and served on the council now for many many years,” Hayes said. “[He] has been very instrumental with Livingston Central Park by sitting on the Downtown revitalization committee.”
Hayes said Dodson will take responsibility of filling in for the mayor during meetings and signing checks.
“The ultimate role is if the mayor croaks, then he will take over the Mayor duties of the City of Livingston,” Hayes said. “As I was saying I want to go to heaven, I just don’t want to go tonight. I hope it would be a long time before we get there.”
Former Vice-Mayor Winningham passed away in July at the age of 84.
