Jamestown Approves Changes To City Personnel Policy

The Jamestown City Council has voted to revamp the city’s personnel policy.

Mayor Lyndon Baines said the city hasn’t made any changes to the document in over five years.

“Some of the stuff was kind of vague as far as evaluations, cellphone policies, and technology,” Baines said. “We all know that five years is a long time in technology, so we needed to update that. We even updated the job descriptions for each position. Some of those were even vague and didn’t have a lot of details about what they do.”

Baines said the City Council approved the proposed changes during last week’s meeting.

“This has been about a three month process with the board and city attorney,” Baines said. “We finally got it the way we wanted it. We’ll have a second reading next month and should have everything in place by the first of the year.
