The new West Jackson Street Convenience Center set to open Monday.
Putnam County Solid Waste Director Doug Ashburn said that the new site will hopefully be more convenient for residents at a more centralized location.
“So now all the folks the live over by the old animal shelter at Cane Creek, if they miss their pick up, they’ve got to drive pretty good ways out into the county to dispose of their trash,” Ashburn said. “So if they miss their pickup, that’ll give them an opportunity to do that a little closer.”
Ashburn said that to start, the center will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. He said that as the center works up to more workers they’ll expand their hours of operations from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and closed on Thursdays and Sundays.
