Jackson County Schools will bid out work on the Gainesboro Elementary Gym Roof and work for part of the roof at Dodson’s Branch School.
Director of Schools Kristy Brown said that money for the work has already been allocated through ESSER funds.
“I will say I appreciate our maintenance coming in on our snow days,” Brown said. “They were up there shoveling snow off the roof, and doing patches on what we’ve got. So it certainly needs to be done.”
Maintenance Lead Josh Morgan said that the issue has also been exacerbated by buzzards. He said that because the roof is some 20 years old it’s deteriorating, which makes it dry and easy for the buzzards to pick at.
Morgan said that the next steps will be to get all of the specs together and then put the projects out for bid.
