Jackson, Overton HWY Departments Report Clear Roads After Morning Snow

The roads in Jackson and Overton counties are clear after a small amount of snow accumulation Thursday morning.

Both school systems closed for the day out of precaution. Overton Road Supervisor James Norrod said there seemed to be no problem areas within the county this morning.

“It was starting to flurry pretty good,” Norrod said, “You seen just a little skift on the road, but it didn’t last long. Any time they are given snow, it’s unsure. I’m sure they just wanted to be safe.”

The Jackson County Highway Department reports no issues with the roads currently. Officials said there may have been a few slick spots this morning, but the main roads have remained clear.

Cumberland County Schools also opened two hours late Thursday morning.
