Jackson County Chamber of Commerce will hold a County Mayor’s Forum Saturday evening.
Debbie Kinnard is the Vice President of the chamber.
“Between now and then the public is invited to submit questions to the chamber office that they would like to see presented to the candidates,” Kinnard said. “And then they will go as far as they can of presenting those questions. Each candidate will get an allocated time they have to respond.”
Because Jackson County has five candidates running for mayor, the chamber felt citizens should get a chance to educate themselves on the candidates, Kinnard said.
“Well, we have so many candidates and a lot of folks just needed an opportunity to get to know them a little better,” Kinnard said. “See where they stand on certain issues, in order to make the best-informed decisions when they vote.”
Kinnard said all five candidates will attend the forum.
“There will be no debating. This is a forum. Each person will be allowed to answer the question as they see it,” Kinnard said. “And nobody else can comment to them, of the other candidates. ”
The forum will take place at Jackson County Middle School on Saturday, July 7 at 6:00 PM.
1st Freedom Bank of Gainesboro and Citizen’s Bank sponsored the forum, Kinnard said.
