Highlands Residential Services (HRS) has extended the bid period for the Oak Tree Towers project.
HRS Director of Operations Chris Cassetty said the agency will now open bids on January 14.
“We had a couple of general contractors who had picked up plans and were very interested in the project,” Cassetty said. “With opening bids so close to the end of the year, they had expressed that they wouldn’t be able to spend the time on it to give us the best bid they could. We felt like that was a very reasonable request because we certainly want to get the very best bids that we can.”
HRS originally planned to open bids for the project December 16. Despite the delay in opening bids, Cassetty said the project remains on schedule.
“That’s one of the other reasons we extended the bids,” Cassetty said. “We’re probably not going to start doing dirt work until the first of March when the weather breaks. It really didn’t affect the timeline to move the date, so we’re still on the same timeline.”
Oak Tree Towers will be a 50-unit mid-rise apartment complex on Buffalo Valley Road. Cassetty said elderly residents will occupy the units once construction finishes.
HRS originally planned to begin constructing Oak Tree Towers this fall.
