A Hilham man has pled guilty to six counts of child rape and one count of continuous sexual abuse.
34-year-old Adam Jereco Haney appeared in the Putnam County Criminal Court Monday. Haney was arrested in 2019 after allegedly raping three of his stepchildren.
Haney was sentenced for 30 years that will be 100 percent served, according to a release from the District Attorney’s Office. He will also be required to register as a violent sex offender and be on the registry for life.
“Child Sexual Abuse is among the most shocking and egregious of crimes,” District Attorney Bryant Dunaway said in a release. “Those who prey on vulnerable children deserve to be removed from our community. Public safety is paramount. Our children are precious and must be protected.”
The Cookeville Police Department responded to a complaint from Cookeville Regional Medical Center in late 2019 that lead to an investigation. Haney will serve his sentencing under the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
Assistant District Attorney General Antoinette Welch, one of the child sex abuse prosecutors with the District Attorney General’s Office prosecuted this case. Detective Sgt. Heather Marshall of the Cookeville Police Department was the lead investigator on this case. Criminal Investigator Randal Slayton with the District Attorney’s Office assisted.
