Highway 84 Shut Down After Truck Strikes Power Lines

Authorities shut down Highway 84 Tuesday morning after a commercial vehicle caused two power poles to break.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the accident happened at 6:34 a.m. as the Peterbilt Conventional traveled southbound in Overton County. A crash report said the poles broke after the vehicle’s dump bed raised up and caught overhead power lines.

The report did not say what caused the bed to activate and raise up. Repairs to the poles and lines forced the roadway to be shutdown for over two hours.

The driver of the vehicle did not sustain injuries and the THP did not issue any charges.
