Hickory Valley VFD Smoking Meats For Super Bowl Sunday

The Hickory Valley Volunteer Fire Department has you covered if you are looking for a center piece to Super Bowl Sunday.

The Sparta department is taking orders now for smoked ribs and pork butts. Treasurer Ken Hatfield said the meats will be prepared in-house by the fire department.

“We call him our legend smoker Mason Brock,” Hatfield said. “He’s been doing it for many many years. We’re doing baby back ribs, and we’re doing four to five pork butts for $25 to raise a little bit of money for our volunteer fire department.”

Hatfield said the meats will be smoked and available for pick up on February 12th the day before the big game. Hatfield said orders will be accepted until the 11th.

“We will have everything set up. We wrap them in foil, so we’ll keep them good and warm for you,” Hatfield said. “That way you can heat them up the next day for Super Bowl or most people they don’t make it to Super Bowl. They probably eat them the night of.”

Hatfield said the smoked meat sale continues the departments monthly fund raisers this year. Hatfield said members are trying to purchase a new air supply to fill tanks. Hatfield said each purchase brings the department’s goal closer and closer.

Hatfield said you can call (727)-420-9865 or (931)-881-6735 to place an order. You can pick up your order February 12th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at 5250 Hickory Valley Road in Sparta.
