A Putnam county man landed behind bars Tuesday morning for allegedly stealing a hearse from Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville.
Jeremy Leon Harris faces a charge of burglary.
According to the police report, the arresting officer observed a white Ford parked behind the hearse at Algood manor’s parking lot. The officer stated that he saw Harris inside the rear and front area of the hearse.
The officer contacted the funeral home and determined that Harris stole the vehicle from the business.
Harris remains behind bars at the Putnam County Jail on $10,000 bond. He has a court date scheduled for January 13.
