Cookeville Resident Lillian Hartgrove will serve another two years as the State Board of Education Chair.
Members of the State Board of Education re-elected Hartgrove during the first quarterly meeting of 2019.
Vice Chair Gordon Ferguson nominated Hartgrove for re-election.
“Ms. Hartgrove has done an excellent job in this role after replacing our former long-term chairman, Mr. Fielding Rolston,” Ferguson said. “Chairman Hartgrove has led this board with respect and integrity and clearly places the interests of the students in K-12 as her top priority.”
Hartgrove has served on the Board since 2014 and maintained the vice chair position from 2017 to 2018. In 2018, she began serving as chair of the State Board of Education.
Hartgrove also serves as the Workforce Development and Education Vice President for the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce and the Highlands Economic Partnership.
