Grand Jury Indicts Man For Fatal Smithville Crash

A DeKalb County grand jury has indicted a man on charges stemming from a fatal crash earlier this year.

39-year-old James Christopher Vaughn faces charges of DUI, vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and failure to maintain lane of travel.

The crash happened March 31 on South Congress Boulevard in Smithville.

Smithville Police reported that Vaughn was driving North when his Chevy Colbalt crossed into the southbound lane and struck a Mercedes SUV, driven by Billy Blevins.

The crash seriously injured a passenger inside the SUV, identified as 65-year-old Bessie Blevins. She died two months after the crash occurred.

Vaughn faces a December 10th arraignment hearing for the charges.
