Goodwill Expects Good Job Fair Attendance

Goodwill expects good attendance at the job fair Tuesday.

That according to Public Relations and Communications Manager Chris Fletcher.

“Our Cookeville Career Solution Center tends to be one of our very strong centers in terms of drawing public interest,” Fletcher said. “And in terms of being able to help people, I should say. So I would expect that the attendance would be good.”

Cookeville Goodwill Career Solutions center will host a job fair Tuesday.

Goodwill Career Solutions hosts job fairs throughout the year. Fletcher said the number of participates typically fluctuates with the size of the fair.

“In this case, there are more than 100 positions available at this job fair,” Fletcher said. “So the likelihood of  being able to, if you go to the job fair, to apply and interview and possibly get hired seems very strong.”

Fletcher said Goodwill aims to help those with disabilities and other employment barriers find work.

“Job fairs although they are open to the general public, anybody who is looking for a job or a second job or a better job is encouraged to come out to our job fairs,” Fletcher said. “But the whole goal is to help people get in contact with employers and particularly also those people that are struggling to find a job.”

Fletcher said six companies will attend, including Bledsoe County Correctional Complex, TLD Logistics, Metro Industrial and Senior Solutions Home Care. The companies’ rates of pay reach $15 an hour.

“They will possibly be doing some on-site interviews as well. So job seekers should dress for success, be ready to potentially interview,” Fletcher said. “They definitely should bring a resume or a photo ID and their social security card or their birth certificate to make it easy to fill out those applications.”

The job fair will take place at the Cookeville Goodwill Career Solutions center from 10 AM to 1 PM on Tuesday, January 8.
