Gainesboro Nears Completion on Sidewalk Repairs

The City of Gainesboro expects to complete sidewalk repairs in the next month.

Mayor Lloyd Williams said the project began in September 2018.

“We have completed a little bit over half of it. And we have done South Main Street and we are working on Murray Street and then Quarles Avenue,” Williams said. “We started on Main probably around eight months ago.”

Williams said the repairs focus on damaged sidewalks in the city.

“Also raising them up to help with the flooding issues we are having. Well, right now we have kind of eliminated some of the problems,” Williams said. “On Main Street, we had the water going over the sidewalk and just standing in people’s yards.  So the school system worked with us and we have eliminated that as right now.”

Williams said the Board of Aldermen and Mayor will continue efforts to better infrastructure in Gainesboro.
