George Copeland, one of the founders of the Sparta-White County Rescue Squad, died Wednesday at the age of 87.
Copeland spent 19 years as a dispatcher for the community’s emergency services before the creation of White County’s E-911. Later, Copeland joined others in creating the rescue squad.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home beginning at 10am. Members of the rescue squad will serve as pallbearers at Saturday’s service.
