Crews have demolished the building that housed the former Jere Whitson Hardware and Depot Outlets in Cookeville.
Cookeville Codes Director Jeff Littrell said the city issued a demolition permit to the owners last month.
“The owners have salvaged some of the lumber and things out of it,” Littrell said. “To my knowledge, they don’t have exact plans for it yet. Nothing has been submitted, but it could be anything in the Central Business District zone from retail to even multi-family housing.”
The building sat adjacent to the railroad tracks at the corner of North Cedar Avenue and Broad Street. Cookeville’s Central Business District (CBD) zone allows for a number of uses.
