Former Jamestown Mayor Found Dead At Big South Fork

The body of former Mayor Lyndon Baines was found Thursday at Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.

Baines was last seen leaving his home on a motorcycle Sunday. Park rangers located the vehicle at a campsite in the park. They attempted to check on Baines’ welfare and found him deceased inside a tent.

The investigation surrounding the discovery of Baines is being handled by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

Baines was reported missing Tuesday by his wife. Jamestown Police Department Investigator Jason Duncan said that he left his home “distraught” without proper heart medication.
